Running TRANSP : Mdstr Step

Back (Archive & Tidy steps)
Home

This step is optional and should be run if you wish the results of your run to be accessible offsite via an MDS+ tree. Information about MDS+ use at JET can be found here. To execute the step type:

JETtransp 'runid' step mdstr

Note that this step must be run before the tidy step. Once the tidy step has been run the option to create an MDS+ tree is no longer available. Also note that this step can take several minutes to complete.

The step creates an MDS+ tree named trout which contains TDI functions which allow the JET MDS+ server mdsplus.jet.efda.org to return distributions from the output netCDF file stored in the results directory. The output trees are stored in the directory /home/pshare/Data/mds/trout which is pointed at by the environmental variable $trout_path. Each tree actually consists of 3 files:

where treeID is a unique identifier associating the tree with its parent run. This identifier is constructed by replacing the users sequence letter in the run ID with a number from 01 (A) - 26 (Z). So for instance the TRANSP run 50621E04 would have a tree ID 506210504. Further information about the way TRANSP uses MDS+ can be found here.
