TRANSP Namelist Information

These pages contains details of some of the different switches and variables which can be included in the TRANSP namelist file divided into broad categories. Note that not all settings are described, only those used commonly at JET. For further information consult the PPPL TRANSP help pages which were the basis for this section.

Template Namelist

The template namelist read in by OMFIT can be found here. The main default settings in this namelist are described below. All of these settings can be changed via the OMFIT GUI although some uncommon run configurations may require manual editing of the namelist prior to submission of the run.

Description

• By default the full equilibrium (flux surfaces, q profile etc.) from EFIT will be read into TRANSP (LEVGEO=8). The poloidal field diffusion equation is NOT being solved (NLMDIF=.F, NLQDATA=.T). The q profile will be adjusted at the edge to match the constraint from the total plasma current (NLPCUR=.T).


• The ADAS beam deposition model and excited states model will be used by NUBEAM (LEV_NBIDEP=2, NSIGEXC=3).


• The plasma is a bulk deuterium plasma with a single beryllium impurity species.


• 1D Z_Eff data is being read in. The Z_Eff profile will be considered flat.


• Plasma rotation is switched off (NLVPHI=.F).


• The ion temperature is set equal to the electron temperature over the course of the simulation (NLTIPRO=.T, NLTI2=.F, GIEFAC=1.0 ).


• No fusion product tracking models are active.


• No RF heating or beam heating is included.
