Viewing and Editing Timeslice Information

The JETDSP timeslice viewer and editor will supersede TED, the timeslice editor, which was available on the IBM mainframe. It provides all the functionality available in TED.

The timeslice editor enables you to

A number of JET standard sets have been created of PPF data useful for displaying alongside timeslice data. They can be found here.

Timeslice data of several types exist, stored in the TSLC and TSMK PPFs. Timeslice data is produced automatically for each pulse but may be altered or added to manually at a later time. To display and/or edit the timeslice data

  • Read in the signals above which you want the timeslice data to be displayed
  • Select the Timeslice Editor menu item as below

Selecting Plot All in Ted Window will cause all the signals in the signal table to be plotted with the timeslice information overlaid. If Plot Selected in Ted Window is chosen then only the selected signals will be plotted. Please note the following.

  • At present only 2D and 3D signals can be plotted alongside the timeslice information. If your signal selection contains single value signals, then you will receive a warning message stating that these will not be plotted.
  • If you are plotting 3D signals you must set the style to a contour plot, as a surface plot cannot be sensibly plotted against the time markers for the timeslice data.
  • Timeslice information is only relevant to a specific pulse. All selected signals must therefore be for the same pulse number, if this is not the case, a warning message will be displayed.
  • The timeslice information must be plotted against relevant JPF or PPF signals. If no valid signals are selected, nothing will be plotted.

On selecting one of the Timeslice Editor menu options the following window will be displayed.

To read in timeslice information from the most recent public PPF just select OK. If you wish to read timeslice data from an older public PPF, or a private PPF then enter the relevant PPF userid or sequence number of the TSMK PPF required in the boxes and select OK. The timeslice data will then be read in and displayed alongside the selected signals in a view / print window as below.
