PPF Directory Queries

PPF Directory Queries

If you run JETDSP on machines on the JET site (including the 'external' JACs), you can obtain answers to the following queries:

- which DDAs exist for a given pulse?

- which DataTypes exist for a given DDA for a given pulse?

To do this you must have the local data client enabled (see Data Access).  Otherwise some of the buttons referred to below will not respond.

After picking 'File-Read Signal' on the JETDSP main window, or 'File - Add Signal' on the View/Print window, the following dialog appears:

selectsignalwithbrowse.gif (5542 bytes)

After typing a pulse number, click 'List DDAs...'.  The following dialog will then appear:

DDAsforpulse.gif (4976 bytes)

You can make your choice by selecting a DDA from this list and then clicking 'OK'.

If you think that the list's contents may have changed (for example, if you are waiting for the intershot to complete) then click 'Refresh' to get the latest version.

Once you have chosen your DDA, click 'List DataTypes...'.  This pops up the following dialog:

DTsforDDA.gif (9365 bytes)

You can make your choice by selecting a datatype from this list and then clicking 'OK'.   Click 'Refresh' to get the latest version.

If there are many datatypes, the dialog will display the datatypes in pages, and the 'Previous' and 'Next' buttons will appear to allow you to browse through the full list.

Note: the 'Datatypes for DDA' dialog reads all the information for the given PPFs, which involves transfer of unused information to the program, and possibly a (slow) dataset recall from tape.  If you are just interested in the Datatype names, then you can reduce this traffic by deselecting the 'Request comments in Datatype queries' option in the Data Access Preferences.
